The Teramar spinning rod series was built to suit the very specialized performance requirements of the Southeastern in-shore angler. With hardened alconite guides and cork grips, these rods can not only dish out power and performance, they can handle any situation on the flats. No matter if you are casting to snook, cork & bobber for trout, or chasing tarpon under bridges, the Teramar spinning series will get the job done.
St.Pete Beach we had a few good trips targeting Snapper and Sharks near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Snapper fishing during the summer months provides consistent action and plenty of table fair to take home for a fresh fish dinner! Sharks have been thick and aggressive. Most of the sharks we are targeting are in the 2′-5′ range.

Whether fishing the fertile flats with a top water plug for Trout, live bait fishing a giant school of Redfish in Tampa Bay, or sight fishing for Tarpon along the beaches of St. Petersburg, this area offers a great variety of fishing opportunities and locations. These inshore waters are home to many large, hard fighting game fish! You can try fishing for a West Coast “Grand Slam” of Snook, Trout, and Redfish in one day. And when conditions are right, you can even catch the ultimate “Super Grand Slam” by adding a Tarpon!
My brother Luke fishes this Rapala X-Rap with and without the red feathers in the back in both fresh and salt water, but depending on where you are fishing (and what species) you can try it with or without.
Captain Greg Doherty is a USCG licensed captain who has a passion for all things fishing.
