And although there is no one spoon that will always work better than all spoons, it’s tough to wrong with the traditional gold spoon that has been known to attract hits from countless types of saltwater species.

We have just got our first cold front here in Florida as I write this report. Earlier this week leading up to the front we had some outstanding fishing for reds, trout and snook! I fished with a few different groups, and had a couple multi boat charters with Capt. Mike Cole, and Capt.Ethan Kiburz. Fishing out of Clearwater beach for most of my charter trips we targeted all three species fishing live baits around islands and docks inshore. We caught several redfish, snook, and trout all on light tackle spinning rods with 15lb test line. Tampa bay fishing was really good as well as we did a few days targeting snook in the back country waters in the bay to avoid the windy weather. Here’s some of the pic’s from this past week’s fishing trips.

Tampa Bay Fishing waters come in from several locations creating a dynamic inshore fishery. The tidal flows and water flows come together to create amazing differences in the sea floor. At the same time this mix of currents and tides create a highly active fishery with “fish highways.”
Now although you can’t get your undies in a wad everytime you see an angler not handling a fish correctly (because they might actually be taking home the fish to it certainly helps to get in a habit of ALWAYS handling fish with care.
It’s Frosty Out There – The first week in January confirmed that winter will come once again….5 – 6 nights straight with temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s….more than likely the coldest stretch of nights we’ll see this year. From a fishing guide’s perspective, that simply t more…

Even if there is a good reason why Snook and Redfish make it to the top of your angler’s list, you simply cannot miss the opportunity to catch Trout, one of the tastiest fish. Those shallow flats inhabitants are easy to catch and make great table fare, just like Sheepshead and the bottom-hugging flatfish Flounder. Flounder can be found relatively close to the shore, hiding in the sand of moving waters around passes and inlets. Off the shore, you can find them near reefs and shipwrecks. Nibblers Sheepshead also hang out there. You can always count on Sheepshead bite during the winter!

If you want to catch big fish, then you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to Tampa Bay, Florida, home of some of the best inshore and offshore fishing in the world! I’m a native of the Tampa Bay area and have been fishing the waters of Tampa Bay and the Gulf since I could walk. This gives me the unique advantage of knowing when and where the fish are and how to make them bite on my tampa fishing charters. I am a FULL-TIME fishing guide and am on the water almost 300 days a year. Whether your goal is a monster snook, giant tarpon, or a shark 3 times your size, we can do it! The Gulf of Mexico waters Tampa-side are home to some of the finest year-round fishing in the south. Hardly any angler could resist fishing in Tampa! The sugar sand beaches line countless miles of waterways, passes, open bays, acres of shallow grass flats, thousands of oyster bars, and dozens of rivers feeding into it. You instantly understand why Tampa fishing charters are so popular. This enormous natural estuary is one of the “Fishing capitals of the world”. But what makes fishing in Tampa so exciting?
Had a busy second week fishing both the bay and Clearwater harbor area. Fishing was good with Redfish, Trout, Snook and Triple tail being caught. Early in the week I fished out of Safety harbor and we fished for snook and trout. Did good on both, middle of the week I fished for triple tail out of Dunedin Marina, and we started the day by running south along the stone crab traps looking for Triple tail. We ran down from Clearwater beach to sandy key, and made our way down to Johns pass and St.pete beach where we caught a 6 triple tail with 2 shorts, 2 just legal, and 2 jumbos. I finished off the week fishing back over in Dunedin Clearwater area catch trout and a few redfish.
Offshore boats are generally much larger than inshore boats, and may need to be moored in a marina. They are sturdily constructed so they can brave the weather and water conditions encountered in open waters. Though they differ in design and purpose and prices vary widely they are generally expensive to build and maintain. Most offshore recreational fishermen charter boats rather than own them. It is often a pastime of the affluent, and there is a demand for charter boats equipped and catered to luxurious excess.
