New York State recreational anglers can now report their catch in a voluntary online angler logbook, called eLogbook. Anglers can document their fishing activities, compile their fishing data and plan more effective fishing trips. If you wish to use this online logbook, please register and log on online at the ACCSP web site. Check our ACCSP and Electronic Reporting web page for more information.

The snook (aka Linesider) might be more of a Florida inshore fish, but it certainly deserves a place in the ultimate inshore fishing guide because it is one of the most popular saltwater game fish in the “Fishing Capital of the World”.
If your dream day on the water is casting to and hooking a giant 100lb. + tarpon, or watching a big snook blast a live bait out of the water under the mangroves? Or, maybe stalking redfish in the gin clear grassflats of the gulf or plugging the flats with topwater lures or throwing jigs for large gator trout. Or, possibly slipping over the side of the boat and wading to any of these species in an attempt to sneak up and hook one of our Tampa Bay gamefish while being ultra-close! Or, the ultimate way to beat the heat and book a night trip in the search of feeding snook in the docklights or bridge tarpon at night. These are all different scenarios that play out year after year while fishing Tampa Bay area. Many of my Tampa Bay fishing charters see us catching more than a dozen different species in just a four hour fishing charter! We can fish St. Pete Beach in the mornings for spanish and king mackerel, sharks, cobia, snapper, grouper, and then turn around and fish the Tampa Bay flats for snook, tarpon, redfish, trout, flounder, jack crevalle, and more. All within a few miles and minutes of each other. There’s a lot of exciting options for fishing the Tampa Bay area and I can help you discover them.

December Fishing Report for the Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, St.Pete Beach, and Tampa Bay Area. We have been targeting Trout, Redfish, and Snook for most of December with good results. Live shrimp, Sardines, and Artificial lures have been working. Most days we are just doing half day charters, but few anglers have been doing full days. Here are some pics from recently.
Tampa Bay is fed by well over a 100 inland tributaries. In these you will find brackish water rivers and creeks that allow for some of the best backcountry fishing action in the state. This also provides temperate waters for game fish to congregate in when water temps change in the bay.
Fall Brings Cooler Temps and Fishing Heats Up! – Back to normal temps this time of year has the fish biting! The bite has been outstanding the past 10 days and it should stay like this for a while. Let’s talk Trout fishing; my clients are enjoying some nice trout to take home this time of year a more…

I think that going on a fishing charter in the ocean would be a lot of fun. I would seem like a real challenge to go out there and catch a large fish like tuna, or a marlin. That would be a real adventure, and then you get to tell stories about the fish you caught.
The answer is the first-class inshore game fishing, of course! You will absolutely love fighting Snook. Once these Tampa Bay superstars are on the line, they put up quite the fight. They are a must for any experienced fisherman and a “bucket list” catch for any beginner angler. Search for Snook on a summer evening. There are huge numbers of impressively large Snook being taken from the Port Manatee channel in Tampa Bay every year. Or you can pursue Redfish out on the flats, mangroves, and underwater structures. Those tough fighters are just unrelenting when hooked. Or to be more precise, IF hooked – Redfish are often referred to as the fish that won’t quit.
Be it Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater, Bradenton or Sarasota, there’s no shortage of hotspots that fish well throughout the calendar year. Here, we’ll cover some of the area’s most popular species and dominant fishing techniques. We also might just give you a reason or two to put Tampa Bay fishing at the top of this year’s bucket list.
Run shallow-diving plugs like a Bomber Long A, Yo-Zuri or Rapala X-Rap right next to the pilings, where snook and speckled trout chase baitfish. Jigs and baitfish imitators like a D.O.A. TerrorEyz work well in the slack water behind bridge fenders. For mackerel, cast a Clarkspoon rigged with a 1- or 2-ounce cigar weight above the leader. A good rig for landlubbers, the weight hugs the bottom and the spoon flutters up like a fleeing baitfish.

Tampa Bay bridges produce year-round but the popularity increases as the thermometer rises. Fish and anglers beat the heat by sticking close to a bridge’s shaded waters. When thunderstorms threaten, a bridge is your umbrella and windbreak. No need to run back to port—just tuck behind the downwind side and ride out the blow.

Stretching out at around 400 square miles, Tampa Bay is the largest open water estuary system in the state of Florida. It is also considered one of the world’s most productive natural ecosystems. This is due to the fact that this type of estuary is one where saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico and freshwater feeds from all along the coast mix. It is here where several species of gamefish, baitfish, and crustaceans spend their critical stages of development protected from larger open water predators.

Cold Front has fish on the move! – With some of the coldest weather we have had since the infamous 2010 freeze, the fish will finally be pushed to their winter time hide outs. For snook this means they will be holding on sea walls, residential canals, mud bottom areas, etc. Trout more…
