Could I also be so bold as to suggest a new heading to the Saltstrong Webpage, namely one specifically where people could make recommendations specific to kayak/wade fishing. Some suggestions for sub headings would be;

This area is a wonderful place to escape the busy, urban areas and visit old Florida. A shallow draft skiff is needed to reach much of the area’s best fishing. Fly fishing is truly the way to pursue the area’s redfish, trout, and the occasional monster snook. Tarpon also migrate through the waters along the Nature Coast during the spring and summer months.

If you have never tried snook fishing, now’s your chance. FWC restrictions on snook fishing season in Florida for 2017 have been lifted, so it’s the perfect time to schedule a trip to go snook fishing in Tampa Bay. Through May 1st, 2017, the season is open: make some new memories while casting your line at some snook. After that, your next shot will be in late fall – so get out there ASAP!

The Ed Alber Tarpon Rodeo Tournament has come! Tarpon are the star of the show. Redfish are all over the flats and mangrove shorelines. Spanish Mackerel and Mangrove Snapper invade the bay and Trout are feeding on the grass flats.

• Dangling Tackle: Popping out from the bridge shadows and running face-first into a dropping hook or sinker is a guaranteed ER visit. Also, an often tenuous relationship exists between those fishing from a bridge and those motoring around it, so remember the courtesy thing and stay clear of deployed lines.

The net affect of this weather was that all Tampa Fishing Guides got a whole lot more vacation days than planned over the course of the last month. On the coldest days, sheepshead were the only target.  Although good to eat, the cold air and limited species selection kept most anglers off the water anyway. For those who ventured out, fishing shrimp or small crabs up under docks or against bridge pilings was the ticket.

If you’re not happy with the amount of quality redfish, snook, and trout that you’re catching per trip, then you should join our “Inshore Slammer” family because you’ll quickly learn how to consistently catch slams throughout the entire year… even without using any live bait.

Dozens of shallow water species call Tampa Bay home — from redfish, snook, trout, tarpon, sheephead, spanish mackerel, mangrove snapper… you name it. If it swims in the Gulf of Mexico, you can probably catch it in Tampa Bay.

Best value for the money. Maximize time on the water. This is a great trip to exercise both patience and energy. Excellent choice for beginners with a desire to learn a lot or the experienced angler wishing to maximize his skills.

A fishing trip along these back bays, white sandy beaches and mangrove shorelines always doubles as a premier nature tour. Don’t be surprised if your charter gets briefly interrupted by curious dolphins, hungry manatees, or flocks of exotic birds. Top that off with some of the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets anywhere on the West Coast, and you’ve got yourself a one-of-a-kind fishing experience, bar none.

Truly the best fishing experience in all of Tampa. Top of the line tackle and rigging. If Matt cannot get you on the fish they are not there. I have fished all over the world and never had more action than a day with Matt and his awesome 1st mate. I will be back ASAP.-Bruce Ferguson

Tampa Bay has some of the best places to fish in the state – even if you never set foot on a boat. Landlubbers can cast a line from dozens of beaches or bridges (watch for other fishermen and learn the best times and baits from them) as well as multiple piers where fishing is the top activity.
