There are plenty of captains willing to clean and fillet the fish for you following the trip. Unlike Tarpon, Reds make for a delicious table fare. In fact, many of the local restaurants will be more than happy to cook your catch. How’s that for a fresh lunch?

To take advantage of all the fishing possibilities and customer requests, Capt. Anthony trailers his boat and takes you to the best fishing available at the time of your charter. He specializes in light tackle fishing, using many different techniques both with artificial and live bait. He supplies Star Rods with Penn reels, including fly fishing equipment.

Cold Front has fish on the move! – With some of the coldest weather we have had since the infamous 2010 freeze, the fish will finally be pushed to their winter time hide outs. For snook this means they will be holding on sea walls, residential canals, mud bottom areas, etc. Trout more…

It was a great time Scott! Thank you for coming and thank you for the review. I hope I will be able to take you on another Tampa Fishing Charter in the future. Capt. Steve Betz Tampa Flats and Bay Fishing Charters

You will be fishing in a state of the art, 2005, custom-built, 24 foot Sheaffer boat. Made locally in Tampa, Florida, this boat is designed specifically to fish the shallow, inshore waters of the Tampa area. Your fishing guide, Captain Stewart Ames, is US Coast Guard licensed and fully insured and has 25 years of light tackle fishing experience in Northern Pinellas County. It is this experience that guarantees that you’ll be fishing where the fish are at any given time of the year. Your fishing charter includes tackle, bait, fishing license, ice, water, and photos of your fishing experience. Your catch will be cleaned, bagged and iced.  Maximum capacity is 6 anglers but parties of 2 – 4 anglers are best.

The Teramar rod series was created for anglers from two very different locations: the Southeast and the West Coast. As a result, we built two unique series in one. Southeastern anglers will find perfect rods for plug casting for snook, spinning on the flats or tarpon fishing under passes. West Coast anglers have an array of rods that includes trigger-stick casting rods for swim baits and jig sticks.

Offshore boats are generally much larger than inshore boats, and may need to be moored in a marina. They are sturdily constructed so they can brave the weather and water conditions in open waters. Though they differ in design and purpose and prices vary widely they are generally expensive to build and maintain. Most offshore recreational fishermen charter boats rather than own them. It is often a pastime of the affluent, and there is a demand for charter boats equipped and catered to luxurious excess.

Thanks Captain You are truly a professional! Easy going and you did not yell at us like the last captain. We fished a lot of the back country of Tampa Bay. What a view from your boat I will be sending my clients your way again and again.

A 1⁄4-ounce jig set through the tail of a live shrimp and hopped across the bottom will turn up a diverse selection of bridge residents including redfish, flounder, cobia, sheepshead, black drum, gag grouper, mangrove snapper and juvenile tarpon. Probably the most popular jigging target in local waters is the pompano. Species-specific jigs such as Doc’s Goofy style or small, round-head bucktails tempt the golden nuggets.

The flats are really coming to life in north Pinellas County. Our main focus this time of year is spotted sea trout, though redfish are cooperating and schooling a bit. Snook are also responding to the warm weather, occasionally eating on the falling…

Preserve the Experience for Others – The only way we can sustain commercial and recreational fishing in the future is to work together. Use a circle hook when fishing to prevent injury to the fish. We like the Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hook, but if you have a barb hook then you can simply crush it with some needle nose pliers. Never keep your catch out of the water longer than you can hold your own breath. The slime that covers a fish protects it from bacteria and infection, so do your best to not remove this slime. Also, don’t forget to practice catch and release, especially during spawning seasons!
Capt Steve hit the spots where the fish were. We probably caught about 30 fish total – trout, ladyfish, sheepshead etc… with 6 keepers. He does everything and is a very good captain. I Highly recommend his service, the trip was very enjoyable. I certainly…More
