“I was introduced to Jason as a guest on a charter 6 years ago and have been using him ever since. I’ve gone on fishing trips for business, with friends and family (with children) and in each case Jason has always been appropriately service driven in each environment. You just won’t find better.”

“In addition to being a huge conservation tool that limits the chances of hooking a fish deeply, inline circle hooks actually catch more fish. When set properly, it’s difficult for a fish to shake it — and that provides great peace of mind when that tarpon, big snook or sailfish takes to the air.”

There are plenty of captains willing to clean and fillet the fish for you following the trip. Unlike Tarpon, Reds make for a delicious table fare. In fact, many of the local restaurants will be more than happy to cook your catch. How’s that for a fresh lunch?

Debris from the old bridge was put in the water to form a reef. Because it was a bridge, both piers sit high above the water. It makes for spectacular views not only of the deep blue water, but of the new Skyway bridge just to the east.

Tampa offers inshore, backwater, and flats fisherman shots at redfish, snook, sea trout, black drum, flounder, snapper, and many other local favorites throughout the year. Seasonally, we also get the Tarpon migration and better shots at pelagic species such as mackerel and cobia. Even big game fisherman who love to fight on light tackle will find shots at grouper and sharks to be abundant.

December Fishing Report for the Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, St.Pete Beach, and Tampa Bay Area. We have been targeting Trout, Redfish, and Snook for most of December with good results. Live shrimp, Sardines, and Artificial lures have been working. Most days we are just doing half day charters, but a few anglers have been doing full days. Here are some pics from recently.

Below is a list of fishing piers found on the Boating and Angling Guide to Tampa Bay. The number identifying each pier is the same as the identifying number used in the Boating and Angling Guide to Tampa Bay.

When I’m having difficulty finding wind protection, and/or there’s good tidal flow, I also like to tie on a scented Vudu Shrimp on a Popping Cork. I’ve found Mid Coast Product’s Outcast 4″ and 3″ corks provide exceptional casting distance for casting up current and working it back down, suspending the shrimp anywhere from 18″ to 36″ inches below.

See the latest highlights from the C1 team and their fierce competition in the Quest for the Crest where they took 2nd place in the series with $191,000 in winnings. This four-leg sailfish series spanned the Florida coastline from West Palm Beach to Key West while inspiring adventure and drawing world-class anglers to the bluest waters on the planet.

This awesome jerkbait by Rapala (the X-Rap series) is designed for optimal performance in the 3-8 feet depth range. Of course, if you know you will be fishing in shallow water (or if you need a hard lure to get down really low), you will need to try out a crankbait lure with a longer bill to get down deep.

The answer is the first-class inshore game fishing, of course! You will absolutely love fighting Snook. Once these Tampa Bay superstars are on the line, they put up quite the fight. They are a must for any experienced fisherman and a “bucket list” catch for any beginner angler. Search for Snook on a summer evening. There are huge numbers of impressively large Snook being taken from the Port Manatee channel in Tampa Bay every year. Or you can pursue Redfish out on the flats, mangroves, and underwater structures. Those tough fighters are just unrelenting when hooked. Or to be more precise, IF hooked – Redfish are often referred to as the fish that won’t quit.

Tampa Bay fishing charters have been catching lots of Snook, a few reds, and limits of trout. The bay fishing is about to get really good as soon as the first cold fronts hit and the fish push into the bay, and for the anglers that will be here for this we will have 50-100 fish days fishing for snook and reds.

Keep Live Bait in Tip Top Shape – If you’re using live bait it’s important to keep it in the best shape possible. Make sure to always keep live bait out of direct sunlight and if you have aquatic bait like minnows then make sure to buy a water bait aerator to keep sufficient oxygen levels. If you don’t have an aerator then make sure that you change the water every 2 hours. Warm water can’t hold as much oxygen as cool water.

The big boy of the bunch, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge spans the mouth of Tampa Bay and links Pinellas to Manatee County. The original Skyway was demolished years ago after a phosphate barge hit one of the main span pilings during a squall. The north and southbound approach lanes were capped and converted into state park fishing piers.

Inshore and offshore fishing are vastly different, and both have aspects that make them worthwhile. Although it’s arguable that offshore is more athletic or requires more skill, do not be fooled. Regardless of where you are on the water, you can still find a challenging catch, good eating, and a fantastic time.

Spanish Sardine Fishing Charters is a St. Petersburg-based fishing guide service, providing Tampa Bay fishers with an in-shore fishing experience, during which they can catch trout, snook, sheepshead, flounders, redfish, and sharks. Spanish Sardine Fishing Charters also leads offshore fishing expeditions. The Spanish Sardine, the company’s boat, is 24 feet long and includes a 250 HP Yamaha Outboard. Interested clients can go to the company’s slip at O’Neill’s Marina, or they can request a pick-up anywhere in Tampa Bay.
