Tampa has a diverse culinary scene from small cafes and bakeries to bistros and farm-to-table restaurants. The food of Tampa has a history of Cuban, Spanish, Floribbean and Italian cuisines. There are also many Colombian, Puerto Rican, Vietnamese and barbecue restaurants. Seafood is very popular in Tampa, and Greek cuisine is prominent in the area, including around Tarpon Springs. Food trucks are popular, and the area holds the record for the world’s largest food truck rally. In addition to Ybor, the areas of Seminole Heights and South Tampa are known for their restaurants.

The Orlando fishing in Conway Chain of Lakes has four interconnected pools or lakes (east, west, middle and south) in the Disney or South Orlando area that are collectively referred to as Lake Conway or the Conway chain of lakes. The larger of the lakes, has only two public boat ramps is located off Hoffner Avenue, two blocks east of Orange Avenue (SR 527). Like the Butler Chain, public bank access is, for all practical purposes, non-existent. This Orlando bass fishing chain has nearly 1,800 acres of clear water and hard sand bottom, with beds of peppergrass, eelgrass and hydrilla scattered offshore. Largemouth bass fishing is good in every season, even summer when the bass are often schooling on shad in the open water.

Florida is the fishing capital of the world, and at the heart of Florida, is the Tampa Bay estuary. The Tampa Bay area is home to more than 200 species of fish including some of the most sought after sport fish in the world, including: Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout, Cobia, Kingfish, Permit, Grouper, Snapper, Sharks and more.

Winter in the area is generally dry and mild. Average high temperatures range from the low to mid 70s °F (21–24 °C) during the day to the low to mid 50s °F (10–13 °C) at night. Occasional cold fronts push through the area, lowering daytime highs to the 50s °F (10–13 °C) and nighttime lows into the 40s F (5 C) for a day or two. Tampa average 2 days a year of frost, although several years may pass without a frost.

The Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County has placed eight artificial reefs throughout Tampa Bay, utilizing recycled materials like old bridge pilings, concrete slabs, culvert pipe and steel beams. Though they can be difficult to find without GPS, these reefs provide habitats and hunting grounds for just about every fish species that lives in Tampa Bay, making them some of the best fishing spots around. The Environmental Protection Commission website provides maps showing the location of each reef, along with coordinates to help you find them. The reefs are also commonly used as diving sites, so keep an eye out for the flags and buoys that indicate the presence of divers below the surface.

The area has become a “de facto” headquarters of professional wrestling, with many pros living in the area.[112][113][114][115] WWE’s former developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, was also based in Tampa.

The Tampa Bay Partnership and U.S. Census data showed an average annual growth of 2.47 percent, or a gain of approximately 97,000 residents per year. Between 2000 and 2006, the Greater Tampa Bay Market experienced a combined growth rate of 14.8 percent, growing from 3.4 million to 3.9 million and hitting the 4 million population mark on April 1, 2007.[15] A 2012 estimate shows the Tampa Bay area population to have 4,310,524 people and a 2017 projection of 4,536,854 people.[16]

Florida’s official state saltwater fish, this tackle buster inhabits tropical and subtropical waters. Sailfish usually travel alone or in small groups. The outstanding feature is the long, high first dorsal fin. Known for its high, acrobatic jumps, the sailfish is a favorite of blue-water anglers.

This was our 6th consecutive Christmas vacation to Sanibel and our fourth using TBE to do a fishing charter. It’s always a highlight of the trip and we always catch fish. Maybe we’ll get tired of Tarpon Bay when the kids get older but right now the convenience and location are hard to beat. We’ve had all the guides over the years and Joe and Tom more than once, but this year we had Steve and he appeared the most knowlegeable when it came to teaching kids about the do’s and don’ts.
