Perhaps the most significant factor contributing to the region’s excellent fishing reputation are the vast tracks of fresh and salt water wetlands protected by state and/or federal laws. The Charlotte Harbor – Pine Island Sound area, one of the largest estuaries in Florida, has relatively clean water that supports extensive grass beds and stands of mangroves. Several large sections of this estuarine complex are designated as state aquatic preserves and there are strict regulations that protect the water quality and marine life in the system

The Orlando fishing in Conway Chain of Lakes has four interconnected pools or lakes (east, west, middle and south) in the Disney or South Orlando area that are collectively referred to as Lake Conway or the Conway chain of lakes. The larger of the lakes, has only two public boat ramps is located off Hoffner Avenue, two blocks east of Orange Avenue (SR 527). Like the Butler Chain, public bank access is, for all practical purposes, non-existent. This Orlando bass fishing chain has nearly 1,800 acres of clear water and hard sand bottom, with beds of peppergrass, eelgrass and hydrilla scattered offshore. Largemouth bass fishing is good in every season, even summer when the bass are often schooling on shad in the open water.

This beautiful home has all you need! Equipped with pool/beach toys, toys for little ones and adults this house caters to all. We stayed in Tarpon Springs from 3/28/15-4/2/15 and were lucky to have magnificent weather the entire week. Stephen, the owner told me that this was a great time to be in the area due to the great weather and the manatee sightings. He was right! Stephen got us settled in, showing us around the home and telling us all there was to do in the area. He even checked in with us during the week to see how we were doing. The area is loaded with gorgeous beaches, we rented a boat and with Stephen’s suggestion, we visited Anclote Key. It was amazing! I can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful home and the great customer service we received. There were 9 of us, including my toddler and we all slept very comfortably with plenty of room. Also, this house is very close to all amenities. A great experience had by all!

Tampa Bay has been designated an “Estuary of National Significance” by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Two National Wildlife Refuges are located in Tampa Bay: Pinellas National Wildlife Refuge and the refuge on Egmont Key. Most of the islands (including several man-made islands built from dredge spoil[8][10]) and sandbars are off-limits to the public, due to their fragile ecology and their use as nesting sites by many species of birds. The Tampa Bay Estuary Program keeps watch over the Bay’s health.[8]

When the pioneer community living near the US Army outpost of Fort Brooke was incorporated in 1849, it was called “Tampa Town”, and the name was shortened to simply “Tampa” in 1855. The etymology of the name is unclear. The word “Tampa” may have meant “sticks of fire” in the language of the Calusa, a Native American tribe that once lived south of today’s Tampa Bay. This might be a reference to the many lightning strikes that the area receives during the summer months. Other historians claim the name means “the place to gather sticks”.[22] Toponymist George R. Stewart writes that the name was the result of a miscommunication between the Spanish and the Indians, the Indian word being “itimpi”, meaning simply “near it”.[23]
