Reel Water Charters Offers both Inshore Fishing & Tarpon Fishing Charters in and around the Tampa Bay, and St. Petersburg area. Covering the West central section including St. Pete Beach, Ft. Desoto, Treasure Island Beach, Anna Maria, Tampa,Fl., and the surrounding areas. Captain Kyle Nifong’s knowledge of the surrounding waters is the key to finding the fish that you desire to catch.

You’ll need to park and carry your tackle, but the pier has shelters, a snack bar and bait shop as well as fish cleaning stations. Cost is $15 for adults to access the entire pier or $12 for children.

To get the most out of Snook fishing in Tampa Bay, you’ll want to target the beaches, residential docks and mangrove shorelines. Stocking the livewell with pilchards or scaled sardines (their favorite) is always a good choice. If you prefer artificials, plugs and jigs typically do the job just as well.

Anglers either use an uptide rod between 9 and 10 feet in length to cast from the boat or a shorter downtide rod 6 and 8 feet. Lines are usually between 18 pounds and 50 pounds breaking strain dependent on the species of fish being targeted. Reels are usually multipliers, although fixed spool reels are being used more and more. Baits are similar to those used for beach and rock fishing except they are often larger since larger fish are targeted. The species will include all the beach species, but now also include big conger eels and small sharks like tope and smoothhound.

Specializing in light tackle, trolling, and bottom fishing in search of Tarpon, Snook, Redfish, Trout, Cobia, Snapper, Grouper, Kingfish, Shark and Mackerel among many other species on beautiful and abundant Tampa Bay, Florida.

Talk to the Locals – You should talk to your local tackle shop employee in order to find out what’s going on in the area you plan to fish in. They’ll know what’s going on and what the best bait to use is at the time of year you’re fishing in. You might even want to consider joining a local angler’s club where anglers get together to swap stories, plan trips and drink beer.

Red Drum typically congregate in many of the same places as Trout and Snook. If you’re looking for monster Reds though, they usually rally a few miles off the beaches or near the various ship channels. Happy hunting!

10/9/09 Everyone needs to go here and read this. http://www.sportfishingmag.com/blog.jsp?blogID=300 For those who choose not to believe that the enviro groups have an agenda to stop fishing, pay close attention. For those who don’t believe that EDF, OC, and other enviro groups are working hard in other areas to stop fishing and then will bring that effort home, pay close attention.

Clearwater Beach Fishing Inshore this month has produced lots of Spotted Sea Trout, a few Redfish, and a some snook. Live Shrimp has been the bait of choice, but Sardines are starting to show back up. Mackerel and King Fish should be right behind them. Spring Fishing is here and the fishing is going to be outstanding, and the weather will be phenomenal! If you are looking to book a trip please give me a call, text, or email asap as booking are already becoming limited 727-831-0111. – Capt.Jared
