Born in Ybor City, Florida; and raised fishing the Back Country of Tampa Bay. At a young age, and under the guidance of his Grandfather, Capt. Blick learned everything there was to know about fish, and fishing. Capt. Blick spent countless hours fishing the waters of Tampa bay, and other Florida river’s, Lake’s, and anything he can cast a line into; He is a Born Fisherman . Capt. Lee participated in Florida CCA Tournaments for many years, as well as participating as a Captain in the St. Jude’s Tournament, Mercury Grand Slam, Tampa Bay Builders Association, YMCA Flats Fishing Classic, Outback Fishing Challenge, and The Andy Brown Memorial Rough Riders Fishing Tournament.

Whether you’re a St. Petersburg local setting out on uncharted waters, or you’re visiting the area and looking for bragging rights with your fishing buddies back home, Non Stop Fishing Charters offers you a chance to experience St. Pete’s Fishing Hot Spots, all with the help of your own inshore fishing guide, Captain Kevin Walton.

Once you get the party rocking, freeline live shrimp, pilchards or threads on 2/0 circle hooks toward the pilings. Let out line in 5-foot increments to “count” back and locate the hot zone. In strong current or choppy conditions, add a splitshot or replace the circle hook with a jighead to keep your bait from kiting too high in the water column.

A 1⁄4-ounce jig set through the tail of a live shrimp and hopped across the bottom will turn up a diverse selection of bridge residents including redfish, flounder, cobia, sheepshead, black drum, gag grouper, mangrove snapper and juvenile tarpon. Probably the most popular jigging target in local waters is the pompano. Species-specific jigs such as Doc’s Goofy style or small, round-head bucktails tempt the golden nuggets.

With fishing terms like inshore, offshore, deep sea, big game fishing and more, it can be tough to get a grip on what’s what. In this post we’ll compare inshore versus offshore fishing and help you determine which style best suits you for your next charter fishing trip.

Tampa Bay is world renowned for some of the best light tackle inshore fishing. This region includes the pristine flats of the various bays making up the greater Tampa Bay, along with deep channel cuts leading into the Port of Tampa. Tarpon, the “Silver King,” are plentiful in Tampa Bay. They often weigh more than 100 pounds with some occasionally topping 200 pounds – a real thrill on light pound test line. The Tampa area is also famous for spearfishing. An abundance of large game fish, such as cobia, snapper, kingfish, bonito, mackerel and grouper, can be found in the Gulf waters.

When they migrate up from the south in May and June, you will go chase the jumpy monsters under the bridges. We take fishing regulations seriously because we’re committed to conservation. It’s important to know and respect the local fishing regulations to help protect and sustain the fisheries. At best, it’s good sportsmanship. At worst, being unfamiliar is a prescription for fines and penalties. We must all do our small part in protecting the fisheries for future generations to come. Please learn more about Florida fishing regulations and how to acquire your fishing license.

Capt. Anthony booked our afternoon trip on short notice. When we arrived at the ramp 30 minutes early, he was waiting for us and we left the dock immediately for the fishing area. While the fishing …wasn’t hot and heavy for the most part, at no fault of Capt. Anthony. We still managed to catch several snook, a couple sharks and a few catfish. We chose to fish for snook in lieu of bottom fish, which he told us in advance would result to more fish being caught, but maybe not the size we were after. Capt. Anthony was very accommodating and made the trip really fun. I will definitly use him again if we come back to the Tampa area. Thanks Anthony and Joey for the good time. See More

7 At St. Petersburg, “Sheepshead are still all over the place. All the canal docks, rock piles, bridges, and jetties are holding them. Fiddler crabs and shrimp fished with light tackle is the key for these fish,” reports Larry Mastry of Mastry’s Tackle (727-896-8889). The trout bite has picked up off Pinellas Point. Offshore, there’s a good hogfish bite north of the shipping channel in 50 feet of water, Mastry says.
